SAGA ends!02 May 2013Since September 2010, Close Call Comics publishes SAGA, a brand new webcomic set during World War II and starring characters destined to become super-heroes. This long-term project, some might say ambitious, is now evolving towards more opened fields, experimentation and more freedom in what we aim to publish. The ongoing SAGA serie leaves its place to several mini-series. The first of these mini-series, the one you have been reading so far, is now titled « Close Call Comics Presents : THE HEROIC PATROL ». Other mini-series will follow, and each will focus on different sets of characters. We will try to explore other formats, other types of storytelling, other genres of stories, while maintaining a cohesive universe. The episodes will resume in the coming weeks, to a different rythm : they won’t be weekly anymore but they will feature more pages (5 pages minimum). We will still offer you different ways to enter the Close Call Comics universe, through new character profiles, short stories, fan-arts and other surprises to come. The website itself will be remodeled to provide a simpler interface and easiest ways to read the pages on different screens. Close Call Comics stays online, in both french and english, and remains free, we count on you all to spread the good news! Until we have the pleasure to see you again on salons, conventions, or on the wall of our facebook page, know that we are really thankfull for all your enthusiasm and support!

Happy New Year 201304 January 2013Hey hey hey to all of you! Hope you had an awesome New Year's Eve and that you are full of good vibrations and brand new resolutions if you needed any. As for me, 2013 will be a big milestone for I will finally be able to concentrate exclusively on Close Call Comics. You might have noticed that these past few months have been kind of quiet, and I admit it was about time I did something about it. So, a few months from now, I will be dedicated full time to Close Call Comics, hard at work writing, penciling, inking for my greatest pleasure, and hopefully, for yours too. It is some kind of bet for me so I will need you all more than ever to get it right. Please keep expressing yourselves (through the facebook page or via contact@closecallcomics.com) and as always feel free to share the links around, the more the merrier ! Of course my goal this year will be to finish the first season, with the not so secret thought, to have it published in a long version form. The follow-up is already in the works. the plots get thicker and richer with new characters, and you might even see other artists tackle some key chapters of this second season titled "Welcome to Greeton". This second season will also be a good way for me to try new styles, new methods of work, new rythm of publications, and a brand new website. But before we get to that, I would like to thank you again for your support, your fidelity and your advises. I will do my very best to make sure that you are fully rewarded for that. Maxime.

You were dying to know more about the SAGA's characters, their powers, their crossed destiny and you could not wait anymore? Exceptionnaly, Close Call Comics delivers for you 5 exclusives pages in preview on Bodoï.info!
During the Angoueme Festival in January, amongs the amazing contacts we made, we met Benjamin, Bodoi's editor in chief, the comic book explorer.
As he really likes SAGA, he offers us to release in preview, in french and exclusivly 5 pages of the serie to introduce it to the readers across the world (or almost)
Last September, Max and Nido worked like crazies to deliver in time a similar project for the magazine Horizons Fantastiques who, sadly, ceased to be published before the releasing of those 5 pages.
Benjamin's offer was a great opportunity and we thank him again for opening his door to our characters.
These 5 pages we be integrated shortly in the story, in the same time, itthe occasion to introduce SAGA to your friends because of the contexte who's explain, the links between the characters and also because we deliver, whitout spoiling, what gonna happen in the next episode!
Enough with tallking, see you on Bodoi.info right now, enjoy!

Horizons Fantastiques magazine cancelled14 October 2011We recently had confirmation of this sad news: Horizons Fantastiques's 3rd issue won't be available in newsstands. After the 2 first issues which had trouble finding their audience, there will be no paper version for the 3rd issue. But the Horizons Fantastiques team is looking for a solution to make this issue available online. Of course in that case the 6 pages of SAGA we delivered would be part of this "online edition" which will probably be for sale. We will keep you posted on any other opportunity we might have to get those pages "paper-published". Meanwhile, know, in time, that they will be available for free on our website anyway. We are sending our best thoughts to the Horizons Fantastiques Team and wish them success in their next projects.

PARIS COMIC CON 2011, 4 AWESOME DAYS06 July 2011
Paris Comic Con ended on sunday night, after 4 days of pure crazyness mixed with laughters, sketches and wonderful encounters! Everything was great for team Close Call Comics. I had the pleasure and honor to be invited to WIP Agency's booth, and their whole team has treated the artists and visitors like kings. They did everything to make us feel at ease and allow us to meet our "audience" in the best way possible. A big fat THANK YOU to you guys, you rock : JS, JM, Guillaume, Eric, Noël and the others. And that was just the beginning : we had Julien Nido (artist for Aelement Comics and talented colorist on SAGA) sitting right next to me, Gabriel, our beloved publicist went hyperactive to get us to meet the press, the blogs and all, we had the charming visit of Olivier Robert, co-writer of SAGA, and his family, in the midst of a crowdy saturday (and he brought me 2 wonderful gifts : a customised Close Call Comics Mug AND his son's smile, little Tom, aged 6 months and allready at ease with all comics addicts and cosplayers around!) Sandra was with us too, in a way, through her amazing paper edition of the press kit and the SAGA episodes Trade Paperback, which had a real success, while Leo was at home, working on the website new version !
As for me, I've drawn sketches after sketches for the readers who came to the booth. To be completely honest, most did not know Close Call Comics before, all the more reason to try and share our passion and enthusiasm. I think, I hope, most of them has been quite pleased and they went away with the website address, if not a sketch. The ultimate reward for me was to be asked sketches of SAGA's characters (around 50% of the demands, the other half being mostly Marvel characters, which i obviously love). This has really touched my heart and the interest shown for our work has put me on cloud 9. I won't ever come down. And of course there were the "friends of the pencil" : the Drink'n'Draw Paris crew JH, Marti and Laurent from Aelement Comics, the gifted Surtur Flamingo, Jim Dandy, Liaze & Momai my charming booth neighbours, the super-duper Sinath who I hope to see again real soon and last but not least, "les petits copaing'" FPC, Nido, and Phil Briones, who is definitely a true gem of kindness, talent and humor.
On top of all that, we had friends visiting, friends who support and push us forward since the beginning, and thanks to Gabriel's work, we had really cool meetings with lots of people from the comics network : most notably the e Nowatch.net team, the journalists of d'Actualitté, ActuaBD, lafilledurock.com, Horizons Fantastiques, NoLife.tv, Canal Street, the cool bloggers of Cable's Chronicles, Comixity, Watchtower,Comicsblog and of course the unique Mister O of Generation Strange who intriduced me to the excellent Lesbian Geek a.k.a. Katchoo!
So here we are, our adventure continues on. While we impatiently wait for the next convention, there is still a lot of work to do, we will keep you updated!
ps : again and again thanks to all visitors/future readers : Valentin, Julie, Stéphane, Juan, Clément, Candice, Bessala, Julie, Philippe, Ronnie & Norman, Logan, Julien, Philippe, Pascal, Vincent, and of course Morgane et Julie (sorry if i forget anyone, i will get a copy of all the sketches i've done so i will be able to complete this list)
take care, read comics, share love.
Maxime
